With the excitement of being the first-ever McMaster runner to win an individual cross-country title on the weekend still buzzing around campus, Jessica Pearo received another accolade on Monday.
Pearo (Richmond Hill), was named the Pioneer Petroleums Ontario University Athletics Female Athlete of the Week. Pearo finished the 2010 season with a perfect record winning after claiming the Canadian Interuniversity Sports title in Sherbrooke, Quebec on Saturday.
She finished the 5 km course in 17.40 beating Guelph’s Rachel Cliff (Vancouver) by a full 10 seconds. Pearo was named to the All-Canadian team for the fourth consecutive season. This season the fourth-year-student won the Western International, the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, the University of Rochester Invitational, and the OUA championship, in addition to the CIS Championship.
