Trio end the 10-pin drought with perfect games

After three weeks without a perfect game, a trio was fired in only three days in 10-pin bowling in the Hamilton area.

Justin Hucalek was first at Brantford’s Star Lanes with his 300 between games of 147 and 196 for a 643 triple. On the same day, Travis Cauley finished off a 797 triple with his 300 after games of 279 and 218 at Splitsville Centre. Two days later Lionel Lewis Jr. proved he has fully recovered from a leg injury which sidelined him for almost a year with his ace at Prime Time Bowling. After a 236, Lewis tallied 300 game number nine, then added 246 and 225 for a 1,007 series.

Also bowling good on the same team were son Matthew Lewis with 896 (215, 220, 226, 235) and daughter Jennifer with 839 (220, 237, 197, 185). John Cherriere finished with 11 strikes for a 290 game with other fine singles at Prime Time coming from William Russell 275, Scott Tarbat, 279 and 266, Shawn Anderson, 279 and 254, Louis Sturm, 267 and 254, Klaus Herchenroder, 267 and 246, Richard Parker, 259, Jeff Lofft, 258, Dee Gallant, 241, and Dave Rombough, a 707 (238, 204, 265) triple. Crystal Maurer helped her 215 average with a 989 (238, 232, 265, 244) series. At Splitsville Ed Maurer started with nine strikes for a 267.

At Skyway Lanes, Mick Anderer, after a pair of 193 games, struck out from frame two for a 290. After John Giordano blasted a 696 triple three weeks ago for the Thursday Commercial at Skyway, he improved on his 200 average with a brilliant 718 (268, 265, 185). In V.S.L. action, Jen Olmsted was on top of her game with a super 659 (212, 233, 214) and Derek Hannah slapped a 247 and Doris Roy spared the unusual 7-8-9 split.
