Mac’s Coates wears Canadian junior colours

McMaster Marauders’ Victoria Coates won the junior women’s division at the Canadian Cross Country Championships held in Guelph on the weekend (Nov. 27).

Coates, who was competing for the Newmarket Huskies, finished ahead of the pack in a race that had more than 180 runners.

Her Marauders teammate, Sara Giovanetti, running for the Etobicoke Huskies, had a strong 19th place finish in the senior women’s division while Mac’s Jordan Bierma (Durham Dragons) placed 23rd in the junior men’s division.

Other Marauders competing in the Canadian Cross Country Championship included: Lizz Hodgson, Saugeen, in the junior women’s section; junior men Eric Labelle, Toronto Olympic, Duke Lloyd, Hamilton Hammerheads, Greg Lariviere, Hamilton Olympic, Mark Brenyo, Hamilton Olympic; and in the senior men’s division Jeremy Walsh, London Runner.
