The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Peoria Rivermen on 2-1 on Friday night (Dec. 3) at Copps Coliseum. The ’Dogs fired 30 shots on Jake Allen but could only beat the goaltender once while Graham Mink broke a tie game late in the third period to give the Rivermen the American Hockey League win.
Following a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs scored at 14:11 of the second stanza with a power-play goal. Kyle Klubertanz sent the puck to Andreas Engqvist, who fired a shot that was stopped by Allen. The rebound went to Engqvist, who proceeded to backhand the puck over Allen and into the net.
The Rivermen tied the game at 18:05 of the frame. Phil McRae intercepted a Bulldogs pass before snapping a shot that beat goaltender Curtis Sanford. Sanford faced 20 shots on the night.
Attendance was 2,691.
Peoria scored the winner at 16:15 of the third period while on the power play. T.J. Hensick released a shot from the side boards which was saved by Sanford. Graham Mink collected the rebound in front of the net before sliding the puck beneath the goaltender and into the net.
