Two Brock Badgers hockey players have been named Pioneer Petroleums Ontario University Athletics Athletes of the Week for the period ending Dec. 5.
Taking the male award is Adam Schwark while Jessica Fickel wins the female honour.
The hockey playing Schwark, in his third year, scored a career high four points in one game this past weekend. The Badgers defeated the No. 10 ranked Waterloo Warriors by a score of 5-3. Schwark registered his first career hat trick and the game winning goal to upset the Warriors on Saturday.
The Business Economics major has seven points from four goals and three assists.
Fickel, a rookie, helped lead the No. 6 nationally-ranked Badgers to wins over the Waterloo Warriors and the No. 2 nationally-ranked Laurier Golden Hawks this past week in women’s hockey play.
The Biomedical Sciences major recorded both game winning goals. On Saturday afternoon, the rookie scored the biggest goal of her young career beating the 2009-10 Canadian Interuniversity Sports’ Player of the Year Liz Knox in a shootout win as the Badgers became only the second team to beat the Golden Hawks in two years.
