Curtis Sanford made 29 saves to earn his first shutout of the season and Dustin Boyd scored a goal in his first game with Hamilton as the Bulldogs defeated the Oklahoma City Barons 3-0 on Friday night (Dec. 17).
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the American Hockey League game at 14:19 of the first stanza with a 5-on-3 power-play goal. Aaron Palushaj dished the puck to Ben Maxwell, who rifled a shot that sailed over the right shoulder of Oklahoma City goaltender Martin Gerber.
Hamilton took a 2-0 lead at 6:25 of the middle frame while on the power play. David Desharnais skated behind the Barons’ net before feeding the puck to the middle of the ice to Dustin Boyd who whacked the puck into the net.
Desharnais completed Hamilton’s scoring at 14:55 of the final period. He intercepted a Barons passing attempt before snapping a shot on net that bounced off the post and crossbar and into the net.
Hamilton had 23 shots on net. Attendance was 4,858.
Hamilton continues its five-game road trip with a match-up in Texas against the Stars Saturday (Dec. 18) at 8 p.m. EST. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
