Dustin Scott’s overtime goal, and his second of the game, lifted the visiting Niagara Falls Canucks to a 6-5 win over the Stoney Creek Warriors on Thursday (Dec. 30).
Scott scored at the 3:07 of the extra period after Cam McLean pulled the Canucks even at 17:38 of the third period in the Greater Ontario Junior B Hockey League game.
The setback left the Warriors with a 15-12-5 record in the Golden Horseshoe Conference while the Canucks improved 24-5-3.
Also scoring for the Canucks were Mark DiFruscio, Vito Scaringi, and Eric Diodati.
Scoring for the Warriors, who led 2-0 after the first period, were Ryan Wilkinson, who had a four-point night, Mark Silvestri (with two), David Ruberto (his 14th), and Tyler Van Kleef. Warriors’ defenceman Jason Shaw had an assist for his 18th point (3 goals, 14 assists) in 17 games played.
The teams entered the third period tied, 4-4.
On Tuesday of this week the Warriors lost in overtime to Port Colborne. Next home game for the Warriors is Thursday, Jan. 6 when Thorold visits Valley Park Arena for a 7.30 p.m. game.
