Monsters blank Bulldogs

Lake Erie goaltender John Grahame stopped all 30 Hamilton’s shots to lead the Monsters to a 3-0 American Hockey League victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday (Jan. 1).

The Monsters first goal came at 8:37 of the opening frame while on a power play. Patrick Rissmiller received a pass from Ben Walter before sending the puck towards the net. Ryan Stoa redirected the puck past goaltender Robert Mayer.

Lake Erie took a 2-0 lead at 4:47 of the second stanza with a shorthanded tally. Justin Mercier sent the puck to Mike Carman, who skated in on a breakaway and used a forehand-to-backhand deke before putting the puck behind Mayer.

The Monsters completed the scoring at 18:40. Julian Talbot dropped the puck to Matthew Ford, who beat Mayer.

Hamilton had 27 shots on net while 4,305 took in the game in Cleveland.

The Bulldogs will return to the ice on Wednesday (Jan. 5) with a 7 p.m. game in Grand Rapids against the Griffins. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
