Mohawk’s women’s volleyball team takes silver

The Humber Hawks downed the Mohawk Mountaineers to capture the Adidas Cup Women’s Volleyball Tournament at Durham College in Oshawa on Saturday (Jan. 8).

Mohawk had not lost a set until the final. They recorded 2-0 sweeps over all five pool opponents, including the Georgian Grizzlies of Barrie and the Canadore Panthers of North Bay on Saturday. They then blanked the Loyalist Lancers of Belleville 3-0 in the semi final. However, the Hawks downed the Mountaineers 3-0 in the championship tilt.

Despite the loss, coach Sean Pellow says it was a really good weekend for the Mountaineers as a team and the whole squad really stepped up and played together.

Mohawk’s Kellie Crnic (Stoney Creek) and Candice Kragten (Cayuga) were named to the Tournament All-Star Team.
