The McMaster women’s volleyball team overcame a two set deficit to defeat the visiting Windsor Lancers 3-2 (20-25, 19-25, 25-13, 25-9, 15-5) on Friday night (Jan.14) at the Burridge Gym.
After losing the opening set 25-20 and the second 25-19 the Marauders regrouped and put the pedal down taking the next three sets fairly handily 25-13, 25-9, and 15-5 in the deciding Ontario University Athletics set.
Larissa Puhach scored 16 points on 10 kills, five aces, and two block assists. Sarah Kiernan and Shannon McRobert also scored in double figures with 14 points apiece. McRobert had a team high 11 kills. Amanda Weldon directed the offense with 34 assists in the match.
Windsor was led by Kaila Seguin’s 14 point, 11 kill performance.
The win moved McMaster two points ahead of second place Guelph into first place in the OUA West division standings. Windsor fell to 1-9.
