Marauders close gap on Mustangs

The McMaster men’s volleyball team spoiled the Western Mustangs perfect Ontario University Athletics conference record by handing the visiting Mustangs a 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18) defeat at the Burridge Gym on Saturday night (Jan. 15).

With the win the Marauders improved to 11-3 on the season moving only four points behind the 13-1 Mustangs in the OUA standings.

Tyler Santoni was the top scorer for McMaster with a game high 14 points on eight kills, three solo blocks, and six block assists. Kevin Stevens contributed 13 points on 13 kills and Jori Mantha also had 13 points on 11 kills.

Matt Poulin was the top scorer for the Mustangs with 13 points on 9 kills, one ace, one solo block, and four block assists.

McMaster has an off week and returns to action on Friday, Jan. 28 when they host the York Lions at 8 p.m. at the Burridge Gymnasium.
