Cage loss drops Mac into tie for fourth

The visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves survived a close contest for the second night in a row, edging the McMaster Marauders, 81-77, Saturday (Jan. 22) at the Burridge Gym.

Lakehead improved to 11-3 in Ontario University Athletics conference play and currently sits in a first place tie with the Windsor Lancers. McMaster dropped to 7-7 and a tie for fourth place with the Brock Badgers.

Cam Michaud led the Marauders with 22 points on 4-of-5 (80%) shooting from three point range.

The Thunderwolves where led by Venzal Russell’s 24 point-10-rebound double-double performance.

McMaster returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 when the Marauders travel to Waterloo to take on the Warriors. The game tips at 8 pm.
