Mountaineers sweep earns share of fifth place

The Mohawk men’s volleyball team swept Niagara 25-14, 25-13, 25-12 at the Fennell Gymnasium Tuesday (Jan. 25). The Mountaineers improved to 6-5 in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Region.

Justin Scapinello led the home side with 13 kills, one service ace and one stuff block.

Phil Youngblut had six kills and two blocks and Allan McGrath contributed three kills, one ace and 11 digs.

Mohawk head coach Matt Schnarr was able to give his bench some work, resting the starters a bit with a busy playing schedule coming up. He felt his team achieved its goals for the match when it came to execution and ball control against the Knights (3-8).

Mohawk is now tied with Redeemer for fifth place.
