The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Manitoba Moose 3-0 in their first ever School Day Game in front of 10,270 fans at Copps Coliseum. Dustin Boyd recorded a hat trick while Curtis Sanford made 31 saves for his fifth shutout of the season.
Following a scoreless first period, the ‘Dogs opened the game’s scoring at 8:18 of the second stanza. Alexander Avtsin sent the puck to Dustin Boyd, who skated down the right side of the Moose’s zone. Boyd snapped a shot that sailed over the right shoulder of Manitoba starting goaltender Tyler Weiman and into the top of the net.
Boyd added his second goal of the game at 14:02 of the final frame. Boyd skated down the middle of the ice before putting the puck between the legs of a Moose defender and deking past him. Boyd proceeded to rifle a shot that sailed past the blocker of Weiman and into the net. Boyd then added an empty-net goal at 18:26 of the third to complete the hat trick.
The Bulldogs host the Lake Erie Monsters for a game on Thursday, January 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
