Marauders tame Lions, improve to 12-3

The McMaster Marauders men’s volleyball team edged the York Lions 3-1 on Friday night (Jan. 28) in the Burridge Gym. Kevin Stevens (Winnipeg) was the Marauders points leader, scoring on 13 kills in the Ontario University Athletics outing.

The Marauders took the first set 25-19, before losing a close second set, 25-23. The third set was another close match up, as the Marauders edged the Lions by two-points. Fortunately the Marauders managed to finish with conviction and defeated the Lions 25-16 in the fourth and final set.

York’s Khalil Karim was the game’s point leader, scoring 15 points on 13 kills.

The win puts the Marauders at 12-3 on the season, sitting in third place in the OUA. The team takes on the Ryerson Rams (5-10) Saturday (Jan. 29) at 8 p.m. in the Burridge Gym.
