Guelph shooters too much for Marauders

Despite three starters scoring in double figures the McMaster Marauders came up short against the Guelph Gryphons, losing 78-69 on Saturday (Jan. 29) in the Burridge Gym.

Scott Laws (Gormley) led the Marauders with 15 points. Victor Raso (Hamilton) contributed 13 points and eight rebounds in the Ontario University Atheltics game.

Guelph led the entire second half, though the Marauders fought back to within a three-point margin on several occasions. Unfortunately, Guelph’s sharp shooting in the final quarter proved to be too strong, and when the final whistle blew the score stood at 78-69 for the Gryphons.

Guelph’s Daniel McCarthy (Guelph) scored a game-high 18 points, despite fouling out mid-way through the fourth quarter. He also recorded a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Marauders will look to re-gain the momentum they showed earlier in the year when they take on 10-5 Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on Wednesday (Feb. 2) at 8 p.m. on the road.
