Mac recognizes 2010 football efforts

The McMaster football team held its annual team awards banquet on Jan. 27 to recognize individual efforts from what was an outstanding 2010 season. The affair brought together roughly 200 team members, along with families and friends of Marauder football.

The team’s offensive MVP was third-year quarterback Kyle Quinlan, who was named a second-team Ontario University Athletics All-Star in 2010, while linebacker Ryan Chmielewski and defensive back Byron Metcalfe were co-winners of the defensive MVP award. Linebacker Cory Bye was tabbed as the special teams MVP.

Offensive coordinator Jon Behie called it a great celebration of the 2010 season…. and the highlight video that was produced was outstanding and a great way to send off our 5th-year players.”

Behie says that the awards give the Marauders a standard to aspire to, adding, “Those plaques live in our locker room with the names of the winners, so it shows the history of those who have excelled and I think it means a lot to the players to see those awards every day.”
