The Hamilton Bulldogs were edged by the Rochester Americans, 3-2, on Saturday (Feb. 12) at Copps Coliseum. The `Dogs were unable to gain a lead in the game and were beaten for the fourth straight time.
The Americans scored at 11:25 of the first period. Jeff LoVecchio received the puck from P.J. Fenton while positioned at the right faceoff circle. LoVecchio spun around and fired a shot on net and beat goaltender Robert Mayer.
The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at 6:22 of the second stanza. Mathieu Carle stripped the puck off an Amerks player at the right side boards before snapping a shot towards the net. The puck bounced off the skate of an Americans player and past goalie Tyler Plante.
The Amerks regained the lead with a power-play goal at 14:44 of the middle frame. Clay Wilson had the puck at the point before dishing it to Mike Kostka, who one-timed a shot under the blocker of Mayer.
Kyle Klubertanz got the equalizing goal for Hamilton at 17:02 of the second period. Andrew Conboy skated down the wing into the Americans zone before cutting into the slot and dropping the puck to Klubertanz. Klubertanz skated towards the net with the puck on his forehand before making a move to his backhand and sliding the puck past the pad of Plante.
Kenndal McArdle scored the winner with a power-play goal at 4:38 of the final frame. Kostka sent the puck to McArdle, who was positioned behind the net. McArdle banked a shot off the pad of Mayer and into the net.
Hamilton was outshot, 27-22.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday , Feb. 16 when they travel to Grand Rapids to battle the Griffins at 7 p.m. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
