Marauders have company in first after volleyball loss

The McMaster Marauders women’s volleyball team dropped its second match in a row Saturday (Feb. 12) against the Queen’s Gaels (27-25, 17-25, 19-25, 16-25) in Kingston.

The loss left McMaster in a tie for first place with the Guelph Gryphons (15-3) in Ontario University Athletics.

The Marauders won an extremely close first set 27-25, but were unable to carry out their momentum, and were subsequently defeated in three straight sets.

In a game where 13 different players saw time on the court, Kailee Stock (Newmarket) led the Marauders with 12 points on eight kills.

Unfortunately, Stock’s team high couldn’t compare to the 21 point contributions from Gaels Natalie Fisher (Burlington) and Natalie Gray (Oshawa). Both Fisher and Gray had 17 kills in the match.

The Marauders played the RMC Paladins (7-11) in their last game of the regular season on Sunday (Feb. 13).
