Mountaineers fizzle in basketball

They led 29-25 at the half, but the Mohawk Mountaineers dropped a 63-56 home decision to the Algoma Thunderbirds of Sault Ste. Marie, in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s basketball at the Fennell Gymnasium on Saturday night (Feb. 12).

Carolyn Fragale led all scorers in the game with 21 points for the Thunderbirds, whose record improved to 6-8.

The Mountaineers, who dipped to 2-10, got 10 points apiece from Shannon Laird and Kayla Michaelson, while Morgan Taylor scored nine.
