Meteors seeing stars after Warriors visit

The Stoney Creek Jr. B Warriors (24-17-5 for 53pts) took to the road on Sunday night (Feb. 13) and soundly beat the Fort Erie Meteors, 13-1. With the win, the Warriors keep pace with the fourth place Welland Canadians (26-15-5 for 57pts) and only trail them by four points.

Stoney Creek and Welland will face each other head-to-head one more time on Saturday (Feb. 19) at Valley Park Arena.

As for Sunday night’s game in Fort Erie, the Warriors were focused, and were led by scoring leader David Ruberto who had a six-point night, including two goals.

As for his teammates, Brad Kobryn also had two goals including a short-handed effort, and Jason Shaw netted a pair. Steven Mueller had a goal and two assists. Other singles came from Mike Casale, David Mazurek, Ryan Wilkinson, Tyler Mayea, Yanni Rallis, and Marcus Ruberto. Mark Silvestri had three assists.

Single assists went to Danny Carter, Dan Hewko, Brock Battochio and Luke Nogard.

Stoney Creek outshot their hosts, 51-22.

The same two teams play again Wednesday (Feb. 16) in Fort Erie at 7:15 p.m. The Warriors play in St. Catharines two nights later and are home, at the Spring Valley Arena, on Saturday (Feb. 19) with Welland visiting.
