The McMaster men’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker, 77-73, to the Windsor Lancers on Wednesday night on Ontario University Athletics play.
Evenly matched throughout the first period, the Lancers took a slight lead with a score of 17-14 going into the second quarter. The Marauders then exploded in the second scoring 25 points to Windsor’s 15.
Going into the second half, McMaster was up by seven with 20 minutes left in the game. After an even third quarter, the Lancers came up big in the fourth scoring 29 points. McMaster scored 17 and it would be their undoing as the final score favoured the Lancers.
Isaac Kuon (Mississauga) had 20 points for the Lancers. The only double-double of the game came from Lien Phillip (St. Mark’s, Grenada) with 13 points and 16 rebounds.
For the Marauders, Kenan Etale (Dundas) had a game-high 35 points in the loss. Scott Laws (Gormley) also reached double digits with 15 points.
The Marauders take on the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday (Feb.19) in their last regular season home game at Burridge Gymnasium at 2 p.m.
