Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame seeks nominations

The Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame is inviting public nominations for the 2011 Induction Class.

The public may nominate teams, coaches, officials, or builders by filling out the form at www.hamiltonsportshalloffame.com, outlining why a nominee is deserving of consideration. The nomination process will run until March 31.

To be eligible for nomination, candidates must be a resident of the City of Hamilton or have been a resident (defined by current boundaries) for a significant period of time, or have represented the city, the province or the country. Candidates may be an individual athlete, coach, builder (including media), team, or entity. A candidate must have demonstrated superior athletic performance or contribution.

In addition, the judges may consider a candidate’s community service.

Nominees from last year are also eligible.

The Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame strives to celebrate and promote athletes, teams, coaches, officials and builders who have achieved the highest standards of excellence while representing the city, province or Canada in an athletic endeavour, and to recognize those whose contributions have been exemplary in the promotion of sport, and current athletes who are achieving significant standards.
