The second game in best-of-seven North Division semi-final is set for Saturday (April 16). Thursday’s game has a 7.30 p.m. start while Saturday’s goes at 4 p.m. Both games are at Copps Coliseum. Tickets for all Bulldogs home games of the opening round go on sale Monday (April 11) at 10:00 a.m.
The Bulldogs (44-27-2-7) claimed the North Division regular season title for the second consecutive season on the weekend and that gives the club home-ice advantage through at least the first two rounds of the 2011 Calder Cup playoffs.
The Barons (40-29-2-9) finished the regular season in fifth place in the West Division but will cross over to the North Division and take the spot of the fourth place Abbotsford Heat, who finished the season with fewer points than the Barons.
After the first two games in Hamilton, the series will head to Oklahoma City for Games 3, 4, and 5 and then return to Copps for Games 6 and 7 if necessary. This will be the first time the teams have played each other in the playoffs as it is Oklahoma City’s first season in the AHL. The Barons are the Edmonton Oilers farm team. The Bulldogs finished the 2010-2011 regular season with a record of 1-0-1-0 against the Barons.
