The Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s only national junior tour run exclusively by Canadian PGA Professionals and the Road to College Golf for aspiring young players, has increased its slate of events to 62 across the country, and tees off the Ontario schedule of its biggest national season ever at the end of April.
The 2011 schedule of tournaments and clinics includes 17 stops in Ontario, the most ever in the province, with Petersburg hosting the season opening Quagmire Golf Classic at Rebel Creek Golf Club on May 7-8. More tour stops occur throughout the spring, summer and fall in several areas including Ancaster, Alton, Avon, Baden, Brighton, Caledon, Cambridge, Guelph, London, Mississauga, Paris, Waterloo and Windsor. A full schedule can be found on the MJT website www.maplejt.com.
The tour will stop at Ancaster’s Mystic Golf Club May 21-22. On July 16-17 the tour will visit Legends on the Niagara Golf Club at Niagara Falls.
Juniors aged nine to 19 are encouraged to play in the non-profit program’s professionally-run tournaments with the objective of improving golf skills through competition. Participation and performance are rewarded with tee gifts, prizes, trophies and refreshments from an impressive list of sponsors including Boston Pizza, Cleveland Golf, Srixon, Golf Town, Odyssey, Callaway, Mr. Lube, Canterbury Golf, OGIO, Sundog Eyewear and more.
Tournaments also feature exemptions to international competitions across the United States and overseas, and members receive a host of benefits including free consultations and webinars (web-based seminars) on university and college golf opportunities.
Registration for the May 7-8 season opener in Petersburg or for any of the other tournaments is available online at www.maplejt.com or by calling 1-877-859-4653.
