Cards rally falls short in InterCounty peewee tilt

For a second consecutive outing, the Hamilton Cardinals Minor Peewees lost a one run game, this time 7-6 to the Waterloo Tigers.

Justin Jeffrey started the InterCounty Baseball Association contest for the Cards and went four and a third innings> He gave up all seven runs, including six in the first, taking the loss. But only two runs that were given up were earned.

Jeffrey also recorded seven strikeouts. Relievers Ayden Hannon and Ty Whalen pitched scoreless ball for an inning and two thirds, with Whalen striking out both batters he faced.

Facing a 6-1 deficit after one inning, the Cardinals did not give up, chipping away to close the gap to one run by the middle of the fifth inning. The Cardinals offence was once again powered by Jeffrey, who went four-for-four at the plate with two doubles, scoring two runs and recording an RBI. He leads the team with a .727 batting average and five RBI.

Michael Semanda and Josh Miller-Koren each drove in two runs for the Cardinals.
