First game, first win for MM Cards

The Hamilton Minor Midget Cardinals opened their InterCounty Baseball Association season with a trip to London’s Dan Pulham Park and returned home with a 6-4 at the expense of the Badgers.

Mitch Gardiner took the mound for the Cards season opener and gave up a first inning run. In the second inning and with one out, Hamilton catcher Daniel Krasulja singled to start a four-run rally highlighted by Mitch Gardiner’s two runs-batted-in single.

The score remained 4-1 for Hamilton going to the top of the fifth when Aaron DiNatale drove in Adam Prodeus to make it 5-1.

London was able to strike back for three runs in the bottom of the frame on two walks, a hit batter and an error. But Hamilton scored an insurance run in the top of the seventh on Gardiner’s RBI single.

David Vanderby came in to close the seventh to pick up the save.
