T-Birds, Twins can’t beat Mother Nature

With their Intercounty Baseball League schedule reading more like a weather forecast, the Hamilton Thunderbirds have re-scheduled two games because of poor field condition caused by rain.

The game between the Cards and the Twins, which was to have been played Thursday night at Nelson Park in Burlington, will now be played on Saturday (May 28). Game time at Nelson will be 2 p.m.

And the Thunderbirds game originally scheduled for Sunday, May 15 against the Brantford Red Sox has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 26 at Bernie Arbour Stadium. It, too, was a rain victim. The game will be played as part of a double header with the opener going at 1p.m.

The Thunderbirds next game is Friday (May 27) when they will host the Ottawa Fat Cats starting at 7:30 p.m. – weather permitting of course.

If it’s of any consolation to the Thunderbirds, Thursday’s entire IBL schedule was washed out.

The Brantford Red Sox were slated to travel to Barrie to face the Baycats, but that game has been rescheduled for July 16 at 7 p.m. The Kitchener Panthers were set to host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Jack Couch Park, but that game was also postponed. A re-scheduled date has not been determined.

The Panthers head to London to take on the Majors on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
