The Hamilton Major Bantam Cardinals travelled to Guelph to face the Royals on May 24 and lost 4-0.
Hamilton’s bats struggled in the InterCounty Baseball Association loss, mustering only two hits from starting pitcher Marlon Krupa. Krupa, however, was charged with three runs, from two while striking out four and walking three.
Reliever Owen Angus-Yamada held the Royals hitless but walked three, struck out one, and gave up one run.
Cardinals’ head coach Rich Minken said, “We had too many strikeouts. It is better to at least put the ball in play. But, there were some positives. We had good pitching.” Coach Mike Raco of the Royals agreed. “Tonight was a pitching duel. It was a well-played game.”
The loss left the Cards with a 1-2 record.
