Cardinals’ dominate the plate and mound against Stratford

The rain held off long enough to allow the Hamilton Cardinals Mosquito Tier 2 team to embarrass the Stratford Indians 18-0 in InterCounty Baseball Association play at Mahoney Park on Sunday (May 29).

Hamilton scored four in the bottom of the first inning, four in the third and then exploded for 10 in the fourth. Stratford managed only six base runners throughout the five-Inning, mercy shortened game.

Jordan Simpson started on the mound for the Cardinals and struck out the first three Indians batters he faced. Simpson pitched four Innings, finishing with 10 Ks and 1 base on balls. Laurence Bistoyong pitched the final Inning.

At the plate, Brock Hudecki led the way again. He was two-for-two with a walk and scored three times. Simpson was just as impressive at the plate as he was on the mound. He had a perfect three-for-three showing with two singles and a double and scored three times.

Hamilton (3-0) travels north up Highway 6 for their first road game this season on Wednesday (June 1) when they face the Guelph Royals.

After that, the team heads to Oshawa June 3-5 to compete in the Troy May Memorial Tournament.
