Tigers pluck feather from Pee-Wee Cardinals


The Minor PeeWee Hamilton Cardinals lost their second Inter-County Baseball Association game in as many nights, 9-2, to the Waterloo Tigers on Thursday (June 2).

It was a defensive struggle for the Cardinals who committed five errors which resulted in seven unearned runs. Starting pitcher Ty Whalen went two innings, giving up five runs, two earned, and taking the loss. Justin Jeffrey pitched two, yielding four unearned runs. Ayden Hannon finished the game by holding the Tigers scoreless through two innings.

The Cardinals managed four hits with Whalen helping his cause with a double and a run scored, as well as Jeffrey recording a single and an RBI. The other RBI was recorded by Josh Miller-Koren, and David Candy scored the other run.

The win left Hamilton with a 3-4 record and in sixth place in the 10-team league. The Cards play again on Thursday (June 16) at Mahoney Park against the same Tigers. Gametime is 6 p.m.
