The Kitchener Panthers took the lead with a four-run fifth inning and never looked back as they trounced the Twins 11-3, paced by an 18-hit attack, in senior Intercounty Baseball League play on Sunday (June 5).
Jeff Pietraszko had three doubles, scored twice and drove in three runs for the Panthers. Jeremy Ware and Mike Andrulis both singled and doubled, while Ware scored twice and Andrulis added an RBI. Brent Mitchell singled twice and added a solo home run with two runs scored and two RBI to add to the Panthers’ offence.
Adam Echlin earned the win, starting the game and giving up eight hits and three runs – one earned – with three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. Three other pitchers came to the mound in relief and gave up just one combined hit over the remainder of the game.
Adam Cholewka singled and homered for the Twina, adding two RBI and a run scored in the loss, while Branson Joseph and Carlos Garcia each had a pair of hits for the Twins.
Kurtis Robinson took the loss, giving up 12 hits and five earned runs with one walk and two strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.
