Kyle Bolton pitched six solid innings and the Burlington Twins slapped out 11 hits to beat the Ottawa Fat Cats 7-4 in Intercounty Baseball League play on Saturday (June 11). The win improved the Twins record to 3-8 while the Fat Cats slipped to 5-10 with their third straight loss.
Bolton allowed four runs – three earned – on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Bill Ralston pitched three shutout innings of relief, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts, to record the save.
Ian Choy hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to snap a 4-4 tie and the Twins never trailed after that. Carlos Garcia, Ryan Asis and Jonathan Slattery all had two hits for the winners, with Slattery also driving in a run.
Rick Howroyd hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Ottawa, and Cody Mombourquette and Eitan Maoz both added a pair of hits to the Fat Cats 10-hit attack.
Ottawa starter and loser Tyler Robinson allowed six runs on six hits over four innings. He struck out four and walked two.
