The Minor Bantam Cardinals had a convincing win over Ancaster on Tuesday (June 14) with a score of 14-7. Joseph McLeod lead the team at bat going five-for-five, including one triple and four singles. McLeod also stole two bases and was perfect defensively making every catch that came to him in centre field.
Noah Skirrow started the game, pitching the first two innings – giving up four runs in the first inning on defensive errors and walks. The Cardinals and Skirrow bounced back in the second allowing no runs in a three up – three down inning. Slater Frith made two great defensive plays and Skirrow finished the inning with a strike out on the third batter. Jordan McNeil had a good night at the plate contributing two singles and a double with three RBI’s.
Tiernan Caulfield pitched the final five innings allowing only three runs on seven strikeouts, four hits and three walks. Caulfield also had a good night at bat with two doubles and a single.
Other notable hits came from Frith with a single and double, Skirrow with two singles and singles from Tim McPhee, Brendan Watson and Paul Wagner.
