IBL all-stars include three from Hamilton TBirds

The Hamilton Thunderbirds announced today that pitcher Matt Martinow, infielder Chris Piano and outfielder Graeme Carey have been selected to participate in the 2011 All-Star Classic.

Martinow currently has a 2-4 record in seven starts with 24 strikeouts and a 4.59 ERA. Piano leads the Thunderbirds and is sixth in the league with 22 hits which includes three doubles and two homeruns. Carey is tied for the team lead with four doubles so far this season and has a .316 batting average.

This year’s all-star game will see the IBL All-Stars take on the Senior Elite Baseball League (LBSEQ) All-Stars from Quebec in a two game series. Game one takes place on Saturday June 25th, while game two will go on Sunday June 26th. Both games will take place in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Hamilton returns to the field tonight as they travel to Kitchener to face the Panthers starting at 7:30pm.
