Cards bats and arms keep Panthers in check

The Major Mosquito Hamilton Cardinals opened up with a five-run first inning to rattle the cages of the Kitchener Panthers before they even got a chance to swing the bats. That opening volley would carry the cards to an 8-3 Inter-County Baseball Association win on Wednesday (June 29).

In the game, Josh Tee was two-for-three with three runs-batted-in for the visiting Cardinals. Ian Jordan also posted a two-for-three night with two RBI while Tommy Thompson, Jared Hill and George Tsiflikiotis were each one-for-three with one RBI.

The Cardinals showed why they have the best pitching staff in the ICBA as starter Calvin Pietron and Ian Jordan took the bats out of the Panthers hands. Pietron allowed one run on two hits, walking two and fanning two over three innings.

Reliever Ian Jordan allowed two runs on two hits, walking three and striking out four.

The Cardinals improved their league leading record to 11-l while the Panthers evened their mark at 5-5 for third spot in the six-team group.
