Mosquito Cards topple Giants, 14-4

The AAA Major Mosquito Hamilton Cardinals hosted the Simcoe Giants for the first time this season. The Giants jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first, however, the lead was short-lived as Hamilton opened up for six runs in the bottom of the second inning, on their way to sealing the Inter-County Baseball Association victory, 14-4.

Calvin Pietron led the way with a perfect night at the plate, going three-for-three with three runs-batted-in. Starting pitcher Tommy Thompson was not far behind with a two-for-three plate effort, including three RBI. Josh Tee and George Tsiflikiotis plated twp Cardinals each while Ben Woodhouse drove in one.

On the mound, Thompson went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out three, giving way to Tsiflikiotis who pitched three innings allowing one run on three hits and striking out one.

The win improved Hamilton’s first place position to 12-1 while the Giants fell to a 3-9 record.
