Twins woes continue as Panthers pounce

The visiting Kitchener Panthers scored three runs in the seventh inning and it proved to be the difference, as they dropped the Twins 7-4 at Nelson Park in Intercounty Baseball League play on Saturday (July 16).
The Panthers improved their record to 17-13 with the win, giving them sole possession of fourth place over the idle Toronto Maple Leafs. The Twins are now 7-22, having lost six of their last seven games.
Shaun Valeriote and Brian Burton each had three hits and one RBI, with one and two runs scored, respectively. Mat Taube had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI, while Jeff Pietraszko had two hits and two runs scored for the winners.
Adam Echlin was the winner, giving up eight hits and four runs – one earned – with two walks and three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings.
Branson Joseph had a two-run home run, while Darryl Pui singled and scored twice. Six other Twins had singles on the afternoon.
Shane Cole took the loss, giving up nine hits and four earned runs with two walks and one strikeout over 4 1/3 innings.
