Henshaw leads Mohawk men in OCAA golf opening round

Curtis Henshaw of Mohawk College shot a five over par 77 and is tied for 22nd place after the cold and wet opening round of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Golf Championship at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club. Jair Saenz is tied for 29th after opening with a 6 over 78. Other Mohawk men’s scores included Andrew Horner (83), Brandon Taylor and Connor Wilks (each at 84) and Michael Lyall (88).

2010 silver medalist Adrian Cord of Humber shot a four under 68 and has a two shot lead in men’s individual play. In men’s team play, Mohawk is 8th out of 15 teams.

Mohawk has just one woman playing in the event, hosted by St.Lawrence College. Heather Brouwer shot 124. Reigning champion Kayleigh Kramer of Durham has a three shot lead after carding an 8 over par 80 on day one.

Durham leads the women’s team event.
