Flames prospect joins Bulldogs

The Hamilton Bulldogs, farm team for the National Hockey League’s Montreal Canadiens, have been assigned a new player… from the Calgary Flames.

Centre Mitch Wahl is on loan to the American Hockey League Bulldogs. The forward was scheduled to join Hamilton in Montreal, where the Bulldogs have a “home” game against the Binghamton Senators (AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators) at the Bell Centre Friday (Nov. 18).

The 21-year-old Wahl has played in five games with the Abbotsford Heat this season recording no points and a minus-2 rating. He has also played five games for the Utah Grizzlies of the East Coast Hockey League recording seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) and a plus-5 rating. The 6-0, 202-pound forward played in 273 games for the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, recording 284 points (98 goals, 186 assists) and 287 penalty minutes.

The native of Seal Beach, California was a Memorial Cup Champion with the Chiefs in 2007-08 where he played 21 games recording 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) and six penalty minutes.
