After losing their first three matches at the TimberTown Invitational Men’s Volleyball Tournament in Calgary, the Mohawk Mountaineers finished play at Mount Royal University with a straight sets victory.
Mohawk downed Briercrest College, from Caronport, Sask., 25-23, 25-23, 25-16, on Wednesday (Jan. 4).
The Mohawk men’s volleyball team entered the final day of play with an 0-3 record. A pair of defeats Tuesday (Jan. 3) followed Monday’s opening day defeat. On Tuesday, the Mountaineers fell in four sets to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology from Calgary, 21-25, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25.
Mohawk then bowed in a real see-saw affair with the College of the Rockies, from B.C., 27-25, 23-25, 25-21, 27-29, 7-15.
Mohawk opened tournament play dropping a 3-0 decision to Edmonton’s Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
The annual TimberTown Invitational draws 12 teams, including the host Mount Royal side.
The Mountaineers will start the second half of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association campaign on Wednesday, Jan. 11 when the Conestoga Condors of Kitchener visit the Fennell Gym.
