Marauders solidify hold on third spot

St. Catharines – The McMaster Marauders men’s basketball team won its ninth game of the season on Wednesday (Jan. 11) at Bob Davis Gymnasium over the Brock Badgers. In defeating the Badgers 103-91, McMaster now sits in third place in the Ontario University Athletics West Division behind Laurier and Lakehead who both hold 9-1 records. Mac is 9-2.

The Marauders take on the Windsor Lancers on Saturday as part of Marauder Weekend. Windsor brings its 8-3 record into the Burridge Gymnasium for a 2 p.m. tipoff.

In their last meeting, the Lancers were 78-64 victors in Windsor.

On Wednesday, Brock took a 21-18 first quarter lead but McMaster rebounded to end the half leading 52-38. By the end of the third quarter, McMaster was in front 82-61 and held off the Badgers who outscored their guests, 30-21, in the final period.

Mac was paced by Victor Raso’s 29 points while Adam Persutti added 18 and Nathan McCarthy chipped in 17. Mccarthy also had seven rebounds and Satar Wahidi pulled down six.
