It’s back to Montreal for Bulldog

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled forward Andreas Engqvist from Hamilton.

Engqvist has played 27 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League this season, scoring 13 goals and adding 10 assists for 23 points. The six-foot-one, 201-pound centre has a team-leading plus-nine plus/minus rating, registering 63 shots on goal. Five of his goals were scored on the power play.

The Stockholm, Sweden native was previously recalled to the National Hockey League’s Canadiens on Nov. 14 and returned to the Bulldogs on Dec. 5. In eight games with the Canadiens this season, Engqvist, 24, maintained a plus-one differential and recorded four blocked shots and five hits, while averaging 6:24 of ice time per game. Engqvist signed with the Canadiens as a free agent on July 13, 2009.
