Coaches can get into volleyball act

As the host of the 2012 CIS Women’s Volleyball Championship, McMaster Athletics & Recreation wants to ensure the event has a lasting impact on the sport in the local area. McMaster University, working with the Ontario Volleyball Association, will stage a two-day coaching symposium in conjunction with its hosting the Canadian Interuniversity Sports’ women’s championship, on March 3-4.

This marks the first time in 16 years that Canada’s top university women’s teams will contest the national title in Ontario. The tournament will showcase some tremendous women’s volleyball talent and will bring together the local volleyball community.

It will also offer the rare opportunity for coaches from the Golden Horseshoe, and beyond, to attend the OVA symposium and receive professional development from some of Canada’s top volleyball coaches.

Presenters scheduled to participate include:

Lupo Ludwig, head coach of Canadian Women’s National Team; Paul Duerden, Former Men’s National Team and professional player; Kari Schneider, professional strength and conditioning trainer and former strength coach for Canada’s national men’s and women’s volleyball teams; Scott Koskie, former Men’s National Team player and current Assistant Coach with the Canadian Women’s National Team.
