Hamiltonian Daryl Waud and Burlington’s Will Finch are among 28 Canadians named to the International Federation of American Football’s World Team which will face Team USA in the third annual International Bowl on Wednesday, Feb. 1 in Austin, Texas.
In total 44 players will make up the World Team composed of top prospects from the class of 2012. The International Bowl allows football players to showcase their abilities. Former Team World participants include McMaster Marauders’ Tyler Crapigna, who kicked the 2011 Vanier Cup winning field goal in double overtime.
The team roster features players from nine IFAF member federations — American Samoa, Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Japan, Mexico, Spain and Sweden. The World Team is led by former McMaster Marauder head coach, Greg Marshall, now with the University of Western Ontario. Team World has five Canadians returning for the 2012 game.
Finch, making his debut, is a highly recruited quarterback. The 6-3, 218-pund passer played for Team Ontario West at the 2011 Football Canada Cup and was a member of the Ontario Football Conference’s Burlington Stampeders and Nelson High School Lords.
Waud is a 6-4, 283 pound defensive lineman who played under Marshall at Western.
