Mac men strengthen hold on second in volleyball

Four Marauders recorded double figures in a straight sets victory over the Windsor Lancers on Sunday at the St. Denis Centre.

McMaster took the first set 25-17, followed by a 25-18 victory in the second set. The Marauders closed out the men’s Ontario University Athletics match with a 25-13 win. With the win McMaster improved to 12-3 in conference play to stand alone in second place with three conference matches to play. Mac is six points behind league leaders Western Mustangs and four points ahead of third place Queens Gaels.

Tyson Alexander was the top scorer for the Marauders with 13 points on 10 kills. Jeremy Groenveld also had 10 kills and 12 points. Kevin Stevens added nine kills and 10 points while Jori Mantha had 10 points with eight kills. TJ Sanders had 28 assists in the win.

Andrew Foster was the top scorer for the Lancers with eight points on eight kills.

The Marauders will close out the home portion of regular season play on Friday, Feb. 3 when the Ryerson Rams visit the Burridge Gym. The mach gets underway at 8 p.m.
