Mac women put up fourth straight win

Waterloo – The McMaster women’s basketball team earned its ninth Ontario University Athletics win of the season, taming the Waterloo Warriors, 67-48. In the process, Taylor Chiarot led the Marauders with 14 points.

McMaster dominated the first quarter, scoring 21 points while holding the Warriors to just 11. In the second, McMaster maintained its large lead and would begin the second half ahead 35-24. The third quarter would see the Marauders score 20 points to Waterloo’s 10 and despite the Warriors outscoring McMaster in the fourth, the visitors returned to Hamilton with the win.

Joining Chiarot in double-digits were teammate Stephanie Truelove with 13 points and Liz Burns with another 12 for the Marauders.

For Waterloo, Colleen Quinlan was the only Warrior to hit double-digits 13 points.

The win was McMaster fourth in a row and gives the Marauders a 9-7 record and fourth place in the OUA’s West Division.

The Marauders take on the Brock Badgers at 6 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 1).
