McRobert is the Big Mac for volleyballers


London – The McMaster women’s volleyball team won its fifth straight game, downing the Western Mustangs, 25-23, 25-23, 13-25, 18-25, 15-9, on Saturday (Jan. 28).

Up two sets to none, the Marauders were able to hold on for the Ontario University Athletics win to improve to 8-6 with four regular season games left. The Marauders currently hold down the sixth spot in the 13 team loop.

Middle Shannon McRobert recorded a game-high 20 points in the match with 12 kills and eight blocks. Third-year Kailee Stock earned another 19 points for McMaster with a game-high 17 kills and two aces. Taylor Brisebois added 12 points and rookie Mira Krunic recorded double-digits as well with 10 more points for the Marauders.

For Western, four Mustangs hit double-digit points including Cloe Behrman, with 15, Kendre Jefferson and Kelly Frittenberg, with 12, and Laura Lytwynec.

McMaster continues its road trip with a game against the Windsor Lancers on Sunday..
