CLEVELAND – The Hamilton Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Lake Erie Monsters in an American Hockey League game on Saturday (Jan 28).
Lake Erie took a 1-0 first period lead when Joel Chouinard’s shot deflected off teammate Mike Carman and past goaltender Nathan Lawson at 17:06. Hamilton evened the count at 5:03 of the second period when Brian Willsie scored. But the Monsters regained the lead less than two minutes later on Patrick Rissmiller’s marker.
Luke Walker added an empty net goal with 17 seconds left in the game to complete the Monsters scoring.
Hamilton outshot Lake Erie, 29-26, in the game.
A crowd of 14,230 were on hand.
The Bulldogs are now on an All-Star Classic break and will return to the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3r when they visit the Grand Rapid Griffins for the first of two back-to-back away games at Van Andel Arena.
