Mohawk women split basketball games

Mohawk lost to Algoma, 73-56, in women’s Ontario Colleges Athletic Association basketball on Saturday. Mohawk is now 6-9 and in seventh place while Algoma moved to 12-2 in the West Division.

The Mountaineers weekend started out on a positive note, beating Sault College, 63-38 to end a four-game skid on Friday.

It was a close game through three quarters as Mohawk led 43-38, but the visitors outscored the Cougars 20-2 in the final period.

Rachelle Abella had 23 points for the Mountaineers. Taylor Shaw scored 13 and Megan Campbell had nine points and 15 rebounds.
